Lightning Fast Folder and File Creation With Sublime Text 2

I’m frequently asked about how I’m able to create new directory structures and files so quickly in Sublime Text 2. Well the answer is that this functionality is not offered natively; instead, I use a plugin. I’ll demonstrate it in this video.

  • This is awesome… I am lazy and I never want to get out of the coding mode just to create a new file. And this works awesome even in Sublime text 3

  • it actually doesn't help much. It takes time type lengthy path when I want to create new folder/file inside several nested folders (created already). It's quicker to right click on the destined folder and choose menu create new folder/ file.

  • You can:
    1 – Drag the folder in which you are working to the top;
    2 – Prepend the path of target folder ("../name_of_your_folder/" in the case of the projects in same place).

  • Ah, the answer is in the article: "Please note that this binding assumes that you’re working in Vintage (Vim) mode. To trigger it, you’d exit to command mode – by pressing Esc – and then type n-n."

  • If you have ["n","n"] setup, how can you type e.g. "running"? Seems one needs to wait a pretty long time so it does not match this shortcut…

  • I am using windows,
    the problem is when I create "createNewnew.css"
    > the folders are getting created on the top most project/folder (eg: C:rootFolderOpenInSublimecreateNew)
    > and the file (eg:new.css) has the absolute path C:rootFolderOpenInSublimecreateNewC:rootFolderOpenInSublimecreateNewnew.css which is an illegal path and causing error while saving new.css
